Research, Development and Innovation

EURO GEOTECNICA has always believed that research plays a key role in the company’s growth, and has therefore invested in various research projects since 2001, increasing the training provided to its technical team in order to specialise in the specific knowledge of the industry.

The company has taken part in the European project ROCKFOR for three consecutive years (2001-2004). The project, which aims to prevent risks relating to falling rock blocks by reinforcing forests, was undertaken together with a variety of institutions and corporations from European countries:

  • CEMAGREF (France).
  • The WSL Swiss Federal Institute.
  • Catalonia Polytechnic University.
  • Bern University.
  • Vienna Agricultural University.

The company is currently taking part in a new European project, called MOUNTAIN RISKS (2006-2009), under which research staff receive training regarding natural risks. EURO GEOTECNICA is one of 12 partners in the project and one of only two private companies taking part.

The company has PhD holders and PhD students to carry out the research and innovation projects which reinforce the specialist nature of the activities carried out.

With regard to innovation, the company has endeavoured to create two specific models for geotechnical application:

  • EUROBLOC: 3D simulation of the propagation of a rock block falling from a slope.
  • Integrated Tunnel Designer: an application to determine the behaviour of rocky massifs as a result of tunnel excavation.
  • Earth-control (in progress): an application to represent test results in real time.
